Comedy Workshops with Gavin Baskerville

Professional comedian Gavin Baskerville runs workshops and Adult Ed courses on how to write and perform comedy. Gavin has worked with corporate groups, school groups, comedians wishing to hone their writing or stagecraft skills, and various other public and private workshop groups.

Gavin's focus can be as simple as working with you to 'find the funny' in the style or content of your presentation, seminar or speech. Alternatively, you may prefer a more detailed program covering the basics of stand-up comedy, with a view to performing a comedy routine at the end of the workshop series. In addition to group workshops, Gavin is available for one-on-one coaching sessions for comedians, public speakers, or anyone wanting to add humour to their writing/presenting.

Gavin's public workshops are listed on our Upcoming Events page and on the Jokers Comedy Club website. Alternatively, t

Singing Workshops with Jane Christie-Johnston

Surprise your colleagues, conference delegates or even a class of high school students and watch their faces as you tell them they are about to become a choir!

Give singer and choir director Jane Christie-Johnston a group of 50+ participants and within a couple of hours, under Jane's supportive instruction and direction, they'll be singing in harmony as a choir. Yes, really! The results of one of Jane's workshops will surprise even the most skeptical participant. No music reading ability is required, no singing experience is necessary, and no-one is ever 'out on a limb' singing on their own.

Jane also runs 'big-sing' workshops for community groups and the general public - our Upcoming Events page for details of any future workshops.

To make an enquiry about booking Jane for a big-sing workshop, please contact us.

Here's what previous participants have said about Jane's singing workshops and choir sessions:

'Jane Christie-Johnston's workshops are addictive. I keep coming back for more. Each workshop is different but the thing they all have in common is that they are uplifting and fun! I defy anyone to attend one of Jane's workshops and not experience the euphoria, serenity and joy. Recommended to those seeking a positive mood altering experience!' - Julie Dennis

'Jane is an amazing choir director!!  I am a member of Sing for Your Life and I had the pleasure of attending a Summer Sing and we sang 'Swing Low Sweet Chariot' - when we had nearly finished learning the song and sang it all the way through, I felt goose bumps go right through my body - an awesome experience!!!' - Jude O'Doherty

'We just LOVE coming to the workshops, and don’t miss one if we can possibly avoid it. It’s always a wonderful challenge, and it’s such a joy to see new people realising what they can do, and how quickly they can do it under your expert guidance. We would recommend the workshops to anyone, especially those who think they can’t sing, or who are in need of an emotional lift.' - Helen Ross & Marg Whiteside

'Originally from a musical family I decided, after 60 years, that it was time to get a little more serious about music again.  I now attend a couple of choirs which are very enjoyable, and sometimes challenging, but the choir that without a doubt is the most wonderful fun is Jane Christie-Johnston's 'Sing for Your Life'. My first attendance to SFYL was at the Womens' Health centre in North Hobart. There were 13 women and me! Mostly through word of mouth and the fantastic enthusiasm and musicology of Jane, there are now two weekly sessions plus numerous concerts and event attendances and the choir(s) now number as many as 80 women and 10 men each session. Thank you Jane, not only for great singing, great company and most enjoyable evenings - which, thanks to your leadership, are a 'laugh a minute'.' - Stan Tilley
