• In addition to showcasing the huge range of experienced performers we
have in Hobart, we love ‘unearthing’ new talent and we’d be thrilled to
hear from any performer who wants to get out there and raise their
profile.
• We’re also keen to hear from interstate performers who want to come and
visit us in Hobart for some gigs now and then. There’s room for everyone,
so let’s make the most of the rich and diverse performing arts scene we
have in Tasmania!
What we expect from you.
• If your registration is accepted by Ta-Daa!, we expect that you’ll
provide us with appropriate information and images (i.e. a suitable
digital photo and a description of your act) so that we can list you on
our website.
• We expect that you’ll have an email address, and that you check it
regularly, so we can send you emails and documentation. Usually we’ll
phone you to discuss potential bookings, but for everything else our
preferred method of communication is electronic. This saves everyone time
and money!
• We expect that you’ll let us know when we can come and see you perform,
so that we know who you are and what you do. This helps us to give the
best advice to event organisers in terms of recommending appropriate
entertainment for them.
• We expect that if you’re booked for an event you’ll turn up on time and
perform in accordance with any conditions of the booking.
• We expect that you’ll have an ABN and will send us an appropriate
invoice for payment after your performance. For more information about
getting an ABN, see www.ato.gov.au.
• We expect that, in the unlikely event that you have to cancel your
performance due to illness or any other unforeseen event, you’ll give us
as much notice as possible via telephone to enable us to arrange suitable
replacement entertainment (call 0409 54 74 74).
What we do.
• Once your registration is accepted, we provide a free listing service
for you on our website, including a photograph and a short description of
who you are and what you do.
• We contact you as a result of booking requests or enquiries which we
receive from event organisers. We may contact you to request a quote from
you before liaising further with an event organiser, or we may contact you
to offer you a specific gig/performance.
• Once you are booked for an event, we provide you with a pre-performance
briefing. This helps to avoid communication breakdowns in relation to
performance times, audience expectations, material suitability, payment,
sound/staging equipment and so on.
• Leading up to the event, we liaise as frequently as necessary with you
and the event organiser to ensure that everyone is kept well-informed and
that it all goes smoothly ‘on the night’.
• After you’ve finished your performance in accordance with the booking
requirements, and you’ve sent us an invoice, we’ll pay you the agreed fee
within 28 days of receiving your invoice.
• If we receive any feedback from our clients in relation to your
performances, we’ll pass this on to you. We especially like passing on the
good feedback!
• We maintain a current database of local venues so if you need to find a
performance space we’re in a good position to help you find something
suitable in or around Hobart.
• We can also assist you to arrange sound/staging services, or to promote
or market yourself and/or your group.
What we don’t do.
• We don’t work on a commission basis. If an event organiser accepts your
quote and books you, the fee you’ve quoted is the fee you will be paid.
• We don’t provide public liability insurance or any other form of
insurance for performers booked through Ta-Daa!.
• We don’t represent you or act as your agent and we don’t require
exclusive listing from you. This means that event organisers are free to
select any performer they want. We’ll recommend, suggest and promote you,
but we’re not responsible if event organisers choose not to book you.
• We’re unable to pay you for your performances unless you send us an
appropriate invoice (including ABN).
• We don’t provide sound equipment or staging for your performance, unless
specifically requested and paid for by either you or the event organiser
(we can help you, just ask us!).
• We don’t provide event organisers with your direct contact details.
Registering with Ta-Daa!
• Applying for
registration with Ta-Daa! is easy and free! All you have to do is complete
a registration form and send it to us.
• If we need to discuss the information you’ve provided, we’ll be in touch
with you. We’ll also contact you if we think we need to come and see you
perform before we accept your registration.
• We’ll be expanding the range of registration options to include an
opportunity for event organisers to ‘try before they buy’ – i.e. including
audio and video options for performers. We’ll also be offering a range of
promotional packages for performers – stay tuned for more information
about these options!
Getting work.
• When an event organiser wants to book you, we’ll contact you to check
your availability. Depending on the event organiser’s preference, we’ll
either ask you for a quote or we’ll offer you a set payment for the gig.
• If the event organiser isn’t sure which performer they want, we’ll give
them a short list of available performers, with costs included, and we’ll
get back to you if they want to book you.
• Once you’re booked for an event, we’ll send you a briefing so you know
exactly when you’re performing, where to go, and what’s been agreed in
terms of the performance. You can contact us anytime if you have any
questions before the performance.
Getting paid.
• After your booked performance has finished we’ll be expecting an invoice
from you, quoting your ABN and billing us for the agreed performance
amount. No invoice = no payment! Whether you charge GST or not is a matter
for you and the Tax Office, but please be clear in your invoice about
whether or not GST is being charged.
• If you’ve completed a performance in accordance with the booking
conditions, we’ll pay you within 28 days of receiving your invoice.
• Our preferred method of payment is to deposit a direct credit to your
bank account, so please include BSB and account numbers on your invoice.
If necessary we can notify you by email or SMS once we’ve deposited the
payment in your account. If you don’t have a bank account we can pay you
by cheque.
Cancellations and other dramas!
• We understand that performers are human and they can fall victim to
illness, family emergencies, flat tyres and so on. PLEASE let us know as
soon as possible (phone 0409 54 74 74) if you are unable to attend a
booked performance, so that we have as much time as possible to arrange
alternative entertainment.
